THE PROVISION OF VACCINES TO TACKLE COVID-19 IN LOW-INCOME COUNTRIES
G7 leaders recently pledged to donate 870 million covid-19 vaccine doses to low-income countries (including half by the end of 2021) in an effort to support equitable and accelerated access to vaccines and reverse the trend in the current phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The agreement was reached during the G7 Summit held in Cornwall on Saturday 12 June, and was welcomed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and various UN agencies, as a positive move towards a fair and accelerated resolution of the crisis amidst the current surge in cases in South America, Asia and Africa.
CD4Peace welcomes this initiative by G7 states to share vaccines and encourages the replication of such initiative by other abled states.
