Wooden instruments

The diversity of instruments worldwide has led to the development of a rich variety of traditional musical sounds. Each instrument is uniquely made to fit a certain culture. An instrument represents a unique piece of information about a culture, for instance, the instrument's status, function, and the ideas surrounding its creation reveal its originality. Historians and archeologists are not sure where exactly drums have originated. However, the oldest drums have been found in Neolithic dig sites from the east in Shandong to the west in Qinghai During the 1800s, drums were still being used by the military to send messages and signals during wartime.
